I would like to know why WordPress doesn’t support multilingual capabilities in the core or by some officially developed and maintained plugin. There are many multi-language plugins, but most of them are incomplete, unmaintained, or broken by switching to block-based themes, which causes that many things like navigation etc. are done differently than with classic themes. Wouldn’t be better if the multilingual capabilities were closer to the WordPress’s core?

  • Multilingual is still on the roadmap of WordPress development: https://www.ads-software.com/about/roadmap/ – no date yet.

I have been able to work with the “big” Multilanguage plugins like WPML and Polylang without any problems so far. If you have questions about these, it’s best to contact their support.

Thanks @threadi for your answer. I know both WPML and Polylang. The Long term roadmap is promising, thank you for mentioning it.
