Multi-language=multisite?

I’m in desperate need to get this thing going, I would really appreciate the help! First of all, please don’t recommend premium plugins, I’d like to try free solutions first. If I have to give in, then I will… till then, hope you guys can help!

I would like to have multi language options for my site, I tried using a plugin but the fonts get all messed up, due to sizing. Second option was to duplicate the site in different languages, and create subdomains, but then the updating issue came about. I don’t want to update 6 different sites.

Which is why we’re here. I want to be able to have a subdomain site, fr.fakebucks.com which would be french, and be automatically be updated based on what I do on fakebucks.com. I was told the best solution was creating a multisite with WP.

I installed everything properly, and added all needed coding, but now when I tried to add a new site, using subdomain, I get nothing. When I go inside the blog.dir folder it’s empty. I thought I was suppose to see different folders here. Sorry for rambling on, I really hope I’m on the right track… you’re help would be greatly appreciated!
