Hi, My site has the latest version of WP ( 5.1.1) and a vertical menu in widget in the left sidebar.

The menu has 3 levels but when I open any of the level 1 menu items there is no option to expand any of the level 2 items that now appear.

I’ve tried changing many of the options but this problem persists.

I’ve looked to see if there is an option that limits the levels but can’t find one.

I’ve tried setting ‘Always Opened’ to level 1, level 2, level 3 and all 3 but no change.

I hope I’m missing something simple.

    Hi @john_m_craig

There doesn’t seem to be any menu item under Services > Commercial EPCs or Services > Display Energy Certificates in your Accordion menu.

Is it possible you’re using the Menu slice feature under Advanced Parameneters: https://accordion-menu.helpscoutdocs.com/article/995-advanced-paremeters ?
You should disable that. (By setting both start and end level to 0.)

Thanks for your reply Ramona, Sorry I may have temporarily set the Slice levels to something other than 0 to test their impact. I’ve set t hem to zero again.

I’ve left a horizontal menu on the top line and if you hover over Services, Commercial EPCs you’ll see the 3rd level fly-out. This level isn’t visible or reachable with the Accordion menu.

    Hi @john_m_craig

Do you possibly have some sort of caching on your site? Can you please clear it? Because I’m still seeing the same, which looks like the Menu slice is still on.

If you don’t have caching and the Menu Slice values are 0 then there’s one more thing I can think of. At the Type: WordPress > Configure it’s possible to manually select certain menuitems. Is it possible that the submenus of the Server menu weren’t selected? (You could just select “Root” there, so all menupoints would be fetched automatically.)

    Hi Ramona,

The Menu Slice values are both 0.

I’ve cleared my browser cache but the 2nd level doesn’t show that there is a 3rd.

I don’t know how to clear server cache.

Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean by everything after ‘Type: WordPress > configure …’

    Hi @john_m_craig

I meant the configuration, where you set up your menu: https://imgur.com/dJG3HUe
Where it’s possible to select certain menus only: https://imgur.com/sMb8t9V
So if it’s not Root for you, that could be the reason that the other menu items refuse to show up. (Because they’re not selected for the menu.)

Hi Ramona, Using the Configure button, it shows all menu items and all 3 levels of the menu from Root downwards, just like in your example image.

i.e. it looks like the full menu as it should appear in the sidebar but isn’t.

GOOD NEWS: I then enabled’Display number of subitems’ and the missing sub items appeared.

    Hi @john_m_craig

Great, I’m glad it worked out!

I just take another look and created a new menu, which looks exactly your example, and for me it worked without having to turn on the “Display number of subitems”. So I’m not sure what went wrong, but I’m glad you were able to figure it out.
