I’ve installed 3.0 RC1 on a site that I want to create several blogs as subdomains. I’m hosting it on mediatemple and it had the wildcard DNS entries already as far as I can see. At least there is an A record.

I am able to use the admin on the subdomain, but the main site redirects to a mediatemple “future home” page. The main site comes up okay and if I try to access a subdomain like somerandom it warns me that I haven’t set it up to allow users to create their own blogs (which I don’t want anyway).

So basically, I’m wondering if this is something that I’ve set up wrong in WP, or if mediatemple is handling it wrong?

The domain in question is my main domain for this setup. I’ve also set up another domain under the same server with RC1 and successfully added a subdomain. It works fine.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I can’t believe that I missed the obvious — my browser must have had a cached version of the main site that was there before I installed WP. I guess the redirect must have triggered the cached version somehow (although why it didn’t for the main site is still a mystery).

Anyway, hitting refresh in the browser brought up the site page as it should.
