• Hi everyone,

I built a website for a client under her .de domain and used SEO Yoast plugin to generate the Meta Descriptions. She has also a second new .com domain that should just go directly to the already existing WP installation under .de.

I thought I could link both domains on the hosting provider panel to the same folders, and solved the problem, but now I realized that this creates a conflict with SEO settings.

Do I need to use a Multi-URL plugin? (I would prefer not to). I also read is possible to modify the .htaccess file, but that didnt work well, I might have missed something.

Can someone help me find a good solution to this? Any good recommendations?

    Thank you in advance!

So you want both domains to be 100% the same? Yeah, that’s never a good idea and will cause your SEO to suck (also it’s bad human experience to have two identical websites). Redirect the .com to .de, but don’t mirror them. Just have it so if I go to example.com I’m actually sent to example.de and that’s what I see in my browser.

Exception! IF the .com version will be a different language, or as a landing page for something, that’s a different matter and is NOT ‘100% the same’ anymore. Also stores can be different and difficult in the same manner.

Hi, thank you for your reply.
What you meant is exactly what I am aiming to do: I want to redirect .com to .de without mirror them.

What would be the best procedure in this case?
Thank you for help, I am new at this.

That’s not a Multisite (or a WordPress) question. That’s a basic website one and the answer depends a little on your host. You can park a domain on top of another. Ask your host “I want domain.de to point to domain.com, but the address bar should be domain.com. How can I do that on your servers?” They’ll know ??
