Multi-User File uploads and contribution for upcoming video site.

    I did my best to search for the answer I didn’t turn up anything that answers my question directly. Hopefully this is the appropriate section.

    Here is what I am trying to do. I am working on an upcoming video based blog / site. The catch here is, I want to be able to have users contribute to the site. But I really do not know how to go about doing this to where people can contribute.

    Think of it this way. Average joe comes along and wants to upload a video, they register their username and then they can upload a file. So mr. joe uploads a video of himself doing cartwheels or something. Would there be any way for this said user to upload the file and then have wordpress take the file and make a post, or put the file in a “pending post” state? Or something along those lines.

    This way the administrator then can decide if the video meets requirements, i.e. no copyright materials, etc. The user could upload the file, put in the file description and title, and then the admin could confirm or deny the video, or it could be done automatically. Do you think this is possible?

    I have been using proplayer on another site to go through the files and it plays nearly all the files that get uploaded to another site. So I figured I would use proplayer or maybe something equivalent to the same thing. I know there are video based websites that are run through wordpress.

    I am just trying to see if I can make the experience possible for other people, especially people that know next to nothing about blogging or the wordpress platform.

    The site would be a lot like these Press75 themes. Except the files would be hosted on the server instead of remote servers. The ability to host from other servers might be taken into consideration.

    So it’d be much like those themes above, but with user submittable content. Think a very very very small youtube idea. The site is based around a hobby, so it’s a very small demographic, not going to be a very huge site.

    Any suggestions of how I might be able to reach this goal?

    i am trying to create something similar. i want users to be able to upload their own videos and have it automatically created as posts attached to that user.

    i imagine that wordpress would allow for great organization with custom taxonomies.

    have you found a solution for what you were trying to do?
