    Hi all,
I want to start a blog network (usin subdomains) but on my hosting I don’t have access to httpd.conf to enable wildcards domains.

Is there a way to get it work without root access?
Subdomain blogs won’t be created by users, but only by me. So there will be a small number of those.

I can create manually subdomains but I can’t figure out how to get wordpress work properly.

    For example:
    I’ve installed wordpress on https://www.domain.com
I’ve enabled the multisite option and created the network
    I’ve created a subdomain blog1.domain.com
In wordpress i’ve created a new blog called blog1

How can I assign blog1.domain.com to this new “blog1”?

    Thanks a lot
    Ste.

Bu tdo they LET you enable them on your own? That step is only mentioned if you *do* have access. Some hosts have done this for you already.

    check with them.

If you’re making the subdomain manually, do not make a folder on the server for it. It has to point to the main wordpress install.

    I’ve resolved it.

My error was that I’ve created “real” subdomains instead of pointer.

Now I’ve manually created some pointers and It’s working!
