Multiblogs or Multi-authors?

Hi,

Would like to get some clarifications:

1. Mulitsites = multiblogs? i.e. not the same as multi-authors. You can have multi-authors in one blog?

2. You know with Squidoo, hubpages etc… are they mutli-authors? or multisites? I guess my question is if I want to set up a site like hubpages, should I install multisites? but that’s like WordPress.com. If I don’t install multisites then users are all sharing the same blog? They will be seeing other posts in their dashboard. Have I missed something? What is the best approach? Can this be done via WordPress (at least to get started)? Ideally, users should only be focusing on writing posts. Setting up a site would certainly scare a lot of people away.

Would really hoping to get some expert advice, I really appreciate your help.
