  • Yes, I’m having the exact same problem. The last day for a multi-day event does not appear on the calendar. For example, if an event is scheduled to run from 7/1-7/5, the event will not be listed on 7/5. The multi-day event will appear correctly in Google Calendar, including on 7/5.

I do not recall this happening before the last upgrade which, among other things, corrected the calendar navigation on the first and/or last day of each month and am wondering if this is a newly introduced bug. My calendar settings Appearance > Expand Multi-day Events is set to “Yes, display on all days of event.”

Our calendar is a grid view of our Google Calendar. It is located at https://explorenorthcoast.net/event-calendar/. The event “ENC Goes to Mendocino” runs from 7/7 – 7/10. The event is not listed on 7/10.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for all the info I will have to take a look into it. I will keep you posted.

Thanks for the reply, Nick. Just so you know, the last day of a multi-day calendar entry will show on the last day if you remove the check mark in the “All Day” box for the event in Google calendar. The length of time the event occurs on the last day can prevent the event from showing on the last day. I haven’t yet figured out the pattern. But, it appears there has to be a certain number of hours (time of day) on that last day for the event to show in the Simple calendar. Hope that helps. It would be really nice if the “All Day” check box worked and we didn’t have to dink around with setting the times in Google calendar.

Thanks again for your help and a great plugin.

Hey this is actually a great piece of information. Technical jargon following.

So (@gbundros) for the other issue you were having with the last day not showing correctly, what I noticed was that the date for the pagination was actually based off of a JavaScript date (not PHP like all the other dates) so what this meant was that some days were being skipped because the PHP date was correct, but the JS date was coming from your machine. So if you viewed a date at the specific time that UTC was the next day forward then you would actually see the issues (which you did!). I remedied that by making some changes with how the JS date is handled.

Ok so now that that is out of the way…do you notice a different effect based on the time of day that you view the calendar? How about in relation to UTC time (e.g. You are in New York (UTC-5) so when you view the calendar past 7pm it behaves differently than before 7pm).

Sorry for all the technical jargo but that is the easiest way I know how to explain it and I wonder if that is related to this issue.

Hi Nick. I’m glad what I described made sense and was helpful. I struggled describing the issue and wasn’t sure if I was clear.

So, to answer your question about the time of day one views the calendar, I’m assuming you are asking about a multi-day event entry in google calendar that has a check mark in the “All Day” check box, right? If correct, I’d have to say I have not noticed a different behavior based on the time of day. I think that I’ve watched for that, but not 100% sure.

Not sure if this will be helpful, but here’s a link to our calendar:
    https://explorenorthcoast.net/event-calendar/
The “ENC Goes to Mendocino” multi-day entry runs through Sunday. I left the “All Day” check box unchecked and tweaked the ending time until it worked. The “Camp Arbuckle” multi-day event also runs through Sunday, but it HAS a check mark in the “All Day” box. You can check the calendar through out the day (ya, get a life!) to see if its behavior changes.

Hopefully I understood you correctly and didn’t consume space and time unnecessarily.

    Thanks again,

I have since been able to replicate this and know where the issue is. We are working on a fix for this in the next release. Stay tuned.

Thanks for all the extra information you have provided to help get to the bottom of this.

And, thank YOU for such great support of a wonderful plugin. Looking forward to the fix.

Should be fixed when you update to 3.1.2 now. Please let me know otherwise.

Just updated and appears to work like a champ. Thank you very much, Nick, for the fix and the great plugin. When I get time, I’m going to submit a “wish list” of features that would make it perfect.

    Thanks again,
    Greg

Nick, just discovered a glitch that I’m not sure why I didn’t see earlier. This morning after updating the plugin and checking its function on my laptop it seemed to work fine. Just now I checked the calendar on my phone and saw that the last day of muli-day events was NOT showing. The same happens on my laptop. I cleared all caches and the issue persists. It works fine when you forward the calendar to the next month and then come back to July.

I think you’ll be able to see what I’m talking about on our calendar. There are two muli-day events that run through Sunday, July 10th: https://explorenorthcoast.net/event-calendar/

Sorry, but I know you’ll figure it out.

Hmm. I just took a look on my android and I see the event that runs from the 7th – 10th and also the event that runs from the 8th – 10th. What device are you seeing the issue on?

I am confused! For the past two hours (that I’ve been playing with it again) the calendar has been working just fine. I’m not sure what happen. My phone is a Windows phone using IE, and the laptop uses Firefox. I’ve never had issues with either device or browser. Mystery. I’ll continue to monitor, but it sure seems like it’s working. Sorry for the false report and thanks again for all of your great work.

Hey no problem, could have been a caching issue or something. I am going to mark this resolved but please open a new thread if you continue to notice anything weird.

    Thanks!

Hi Nick, yes, it probably was a caching issue, even though I thought that I had cleared everything. It’s been working flawlessly. Thanks again for a great plugin and the support.

    Take care,
    Greg
