• For one of my sites I would like to create a version in English as well as in Dutch.
    Trying to decide on how best to do this. Not liking the option of installing a plugin that will simply machine translate the existing pages as the result of this is quite often sub-standard.
    Thinking of creating a sub-domain “https://dutch.mydomain.com” and installing a 2nd WordPress instance there which contains the Dutch language content. A but heavy handed maybe but that way I have full control.
    Wondering if anyone here can recommend a more elegant solution.

  • It is not a bad idea to have your site in another language, however you should consider that it will be time consuming to translate all the content to another language and besides that it might affect your SEO ranking.

    There are free plugins, such as GTranslate which does an automatic translation:

    Alternatively, I suggest to check out WPML plugin which integrates with semi-human translation services
