    Hi,

After WordPress 4.9.8 update any multipage PDF opened in fancybox on IOS physical device displays the first page only and there is no option to scroll to other pages.
Have tested in different browsers on IOS and results are the same.

The problem does not affect browsers on MacOS and at this stage only IOS devices are affected although I have not tested other platforms.

Could you please have a look when you have a moment.

    Regards, Vitali.

  • Hi Vitali, have you tried any of he other PDF?embed method options on your Settings > Media admin page?

    Hi,

Yes, I have tried all 4 settings including external. Previously, it was working with default setting “iFrame tag(let browser decide)”.

At this stage I am not sure whether the issue is related to WordPress version 4.9.8 update or plugin update to the latest version 1.8.6. Both changes were done within a couple of days from each other and the issue was discovered after both updates were completed.

    Thank you.

OK, I think I found the cause of the issue and I’ll work on a solution… Thanks for the report!

    Hi Ravan,

Do you by any chance have an update on this issue?

    Thank you,
    Vitali.

Hi @thevisas I’m having more difficulty than expected with this. Could you visit my dev site on dev.status301.net/easy-fancybox-sandbox/pdf-embeds/ with an iOS device and see which of the methods (default, alternative 1 or 2) works for you. If any…

I can reproduce the issue on with iFrame embed, but alternative method 2 (and 3) work on my device.

    Hi Ravan,

Thank you for looking into this issue.
I can access the dev page, but I cannot open any of the links neither on IOS nor on MacOS.

This maybe related to the fact that I am currently in mainland China, but when I try to access via VPN it also does not work.

However, it does work in RDP session on Amazon WinOS machine located in US.

So unfortunately I cannot test at the moment, unless perhaps you can place PDF file somewhere on dev.status301.net rather than using one from m-etropolis.com.

    Regards,
    Vitali.

    Hi Ravan,

Small correction to the previous post. Method 3 and 4 work on IOS via VPN, but method 1 and default still do not work.

However, using Google viewer is not an option for me as at the moment none of Google services work in mainland China.

    Regards,
    Vitali.

none of Google services work in mainland China

    Ah yes, I see how that’s a problem ??

I’ll have to work on integrating PDF.js then even though I read that the script is terribly slow on iOS?and may crash Safari when redering large PDF files…

    Hi Ravan,

Would it be possible to use the previous version of your plugin if it may solve the current issue?
Does the premium plugin have the same issue?

    Regard,
    Vitali

The premium version will not change anything in this respect.

You can download a previous version from https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/easy-fancybox/advanced/ at the bottom select the version that you know to be OK and click Download. Then you can either uninstall the current plugin and then use the WordPress uploader to install the zip package, or you can unzip locally and overwrite the current plugin files by FTP.

Please let me know if that indeed fixes the issue !

    Hi Ravan,

I have tried versions 1.8.5 and 1.8 and unfortunately the issue is still present.
Perhaps, there were some changes in WordPress 4.9.8 that have contributed to this.

    Regards,
    Vitali

It’s more likely to be related to iOS. Did you upgrade or change your device recently? I found many reports about problems with embedded PDF on iOS but never a working solution, except the Google Docs Viewer and maybe PDF.js ??

    Hi Ravan,

I have not changed devices recently and iPhone/iPad are on IOS 11.4.1.
I have tested on older iPhone with IOS 11.2.5 and the issue is still present.
In my view, if it is not related to plugin update, it is more likely to be related to WordPress 4.9.8 update rather than IOS update.
IOS 11.2.5 was certainly working before.
    Regards, Vitali.

Could you test by embedding the PDF?in a normal iframe on your site? I mean, without opening it in the light box?

I have deactivate the Lightbox but there is no change. The thumbnail size of the images are still different between page 1 and 2.

    Thank you

    Denise
