multiple accounts synced erased all imported items

We have two Zotero accounts linked to our Zotpress plugin. We imported a large number of items from one account and pasted shortcodes for those items on our site and it looked great.

Then, we tried to switch to the other account and import items from that library. We got an error, and now none of the items we previously imported are showing up in the Zotpress library, and none of the short codes are working.

Any ideas? If we reimport, will we have to paste new shortcodes in, or will the previous shortcodes work again?
