    Hi all,

I have a question about variations.
I want to make a product for prints.
These prints I have in different types (Giclee, canvas and frames) So I make 3 attributes. Each type have different variations, not the same size and prizes.
For example a print in size 20×25 cm costs X, a canvas in size 20×25 cm costs Y and a frame in size 20×25 costs Z.
How can I do this? Or which plugin do I need?
Because at this moment I cannot separate the size and the price.
    Hopefully someone can help me…

    Patrice

  • Hi Patrice!

Please find a detailed guide on the official documentation here:
    https://woocommerce.com/document/variable-product/

If that doesn’t suit your needs, we may have an extension for you. In that case please contact us at WooCommerce.com > My Account > Support. You may need to create an account before you can access that page.

    I hope this helps! ??

    Hi Juan,

Thanks so much for your reply.
    Unfortunately it doesn’t work.
I can’t set the different prices for each attribute itself.
In the variations I get two lists of variations. 1 list with sizes for art prints and 1 list with sizes for canvas prints. But they are on 1 row. So I cannot price them separately.
I tried to use the “use for all variations” option and leaving in one row the prices options blank. But then I get an error “sorry, no products matched your selection. Please choose a different combination. ”

But I don’t want combinations, I want separate prices for each attribute…
Because each attribute has also different price variations. ??

Do you understand what I mean? Don’t know how to explain it in another way.

    Hi @patrice-s

    Thanks for clarifying.

You can have two attributes: type and size

For type you can have say 3 options:
    – print
    – canvas
    – frame

For size you can have say 4 options (as required):
    – 20×25 cm
    – X×Y cm
    – A×B cm
    – C×D cm

So you will have a total of 3 x 4 = 12 variations of the product, and you can set different pricings for each of the 12 variants.

    I hope this helps!

Thanos so much for your reply, Margaret.
But for me this doesn’t do trick as well.
Still don’t have the seperate attribute/variation version.
I put in the 2 attribites (type and size).
-Types are glicee print, stretched canvas, rolled canvas and framed. Total of 4
-Each type has its owm size and price in 7 variations. Because a stretced canvas is more expensive than a giclee print and alao the sizea are different than a Giclee print.
So a Giclee print has 7 sizes with its price, a stretched cancas has 7 sizes with its price etc.
To make it more difficult the frames. also has two colors.
So in total I have 1 product (Print) available in 35 options.
If I give each attribute its own size and price there are 4 rows next to each other. The only thing I can do is fill in 1 price. So all variations in that size (when the first row is the Giclee art print) will have the same price.

If I do it another way, I just put in all sizes and prices in 1 variation,
I get a list of 35 variations to scroll through.
I don’t think a customer is willing to do that, it’s quite a long list.
I tried and tried but it won’t seem to work.
It’s such a pity I can’t add an image to this post, otherwise I couls show how it looks and what I mean.

I am afraid I need to work with categories and put each variation in its own categories, but than I will have 4 time the same product in my shop. If I have 100 items I will 400 products in my shop. And that’t what I wanted to avoid…
Unless there is another working solution. ??
But again thanks so much thinkin with me!

    Hi @patrice-s

…put each variation in its own categories, but than I will have 4 time the same product in my shop. If I have 100 items I will 400 products in my shop.

You can assign multiple categories to a product. The same product will then appear under all those categories. Here is our support document for setting up and assigning categories.

    It’s such a pity I can’t add an image to this post…

You can use https://snipboard.io for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on the page, then paste the URL here. It works with Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge browsers.

    Hi Margaret,
Thanks again for your prompt reply! I really appriciate it. ??

Firstly I will take a look in the Categories file. Maybe this can help me. Otherwise I will try to upload the images through Snipboard so you have a better idea.

Try to do it today, but it could be that it will take a bit longer, because of the holidays, but I will definately let you know if it succeeded.

    Thanks Margaret,

I only managed to put all options in one product.
So in my case I have 45 options (!). Because all options have different sizes and the frames also have 4 colours.
I couldn’t find another way to do it, without making the same product for each category. Which in my case would be be at least 400 products (100 products in 4 categories).
So for now I do it like this…

Thanks so much for your help and have a nice day!
