Multiple blogs feeding from same WP database

Okay….this may be a unique sort of request, but I’m wondering if anybody else has tried this sort of thing:

I have a site that has a few sections. Each section is diverse and separate enough that it really warrants a separate blog, not just separate categories. Now….

Occasionally, I would like to be able to cross-post to different sections (same article, both blogs). What I’m wondering is, is there a way to get multiple blogs to feed out of the same database?

I can write the stuff to differentiate between the sections, but I know from experience that the WP engine gets Very Upset when you take it out of the directory hierarchy that it expects to be in.

Any tips for how to accomplish this? I’d be glad to answer questions if necessary. Thanks!
