• Hi!

I’m planning to install WordPress in a hosting company.

Is it possible to run multiple blogs under a single WorPress install?

Explaining: I want to have two blogs, one for “production” (i.e. public use) and a “development” blog, where I intend to make modifications, tests, etc, before applying those modifications to the “production” blog.

Sorry, was unable to find information about this question, before posting this message.

    Thanks!

    Fernando

  • I don’t know, but it’s such a quick install, you could just install 2 copies. I have a few installations.

    Hi Dgold!

That’s fine, so I could have one copy installed under Myblog.com and another under (say) MyBlog.com/Test. Is that you’re suggesting?

Probably, thats’ what he was saying.
You can have any number of WP installation on the same domain – all in different subfolders AND (this is the important bit!) all of them using either different databases or different table prefixes!

There’re few things to make a note:

    1. The regular WordPress 2.2.1 or WordPress 2.1.x Softwares doesn’t have multi blogs features.

If you want to run multi blog using the regular(single user) WordPress software, you’ll then have to create required number of sub-directories, and seperate installation of the software is required.

    2. The other option is to install WordPress Mu, the multi-user blogging software. Once installed you can create as many blogs as you want. For e.g. Blogsome.

You can find WordPress Mu here or read here.

I hope this’ll help you in choosing the best suited option.

Thank you all fellows, really appreciated your kind help!

    Cheers!

And here’s something extra sweet with WordPress MU, Domain Mapping (https://bui4ever.com/web-itecture/wordpress_mu_with_domain_mapping/)
