    Hi,
I had a client contact me because they were having problems with their site. After an examination of their site, I found the problems were coming from the Awesome Support plugin. Please find the bugs that I have found.

    Bug 1)
On a clean WordPress 5.6 site (no other plugins installed using the default theme)
Awesome Support Plugin is throwing the following error:
session_set_save_handler(): Cannot change save handler when headers already sent in /home/domain_name/public/wp-content/plugins/awesome-support/vendor/ericmann/sessionz/php/Manager.php on line 133
Another use opened an issue regarding this. Awesome Support Plugin developer responded and stated that it has been fixed in version 6.0.1. However, that is the version I’m using and I’m still receiving this error.

Bug 2) Illegal offset type in /home/domain_name/public/wp-content/plugins/awesome-support/includes/admin/class-admin-tickets-list.php on line 1572

Bug 3) The client has Awesome Support WooCommerce installed. When installed and setting permalinks Common Settings to anything other than plain you can no longer access any of the Awesome Support support pages on the front end (create/view tickets).

Bug 4) When activating a popular plugin on CodeCanyon “Elite Video Player” Awesome Support is causing a conflict:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare wp_default_custom_scripts() (previously declared in /home/domain_name/public/wp-content/plugins/awesome-support/includes/admin/functions-misc.php:668) in /home/domain_name/public/wp-content/plugins/Elite-video-player/video-player.php on line 41
Again, this is on a clean install of WordPress with only Awesome Support installed. I have found that this is happening on a few other plugins as I go down my client’s list of plugins and activating them.

At this time I have informed my client to remove Awesome Support.

    Hi @dev3410,

Thanks for the detailed report. The developers are looking into these issue and fix them for a future release. Regarding the Elite Video Player, unfortunately we are not able to offer full compatibility with each plugin, but we check that our plugin can be compatible with the most popular plugins in WordPress:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/browse/popular/

Also, in order to gather more information. Does this issue started from the update to WordPress 5.6 or was it present on previous versions?

    Regards.

Thank you for your response. I will inform the client.
    Concerning your questions and statements.

No plugin can be responsible for another plugin. But, due to bugs/errors in one plugin that make another plugin inoperable is the reponsibility of the plugin developer that is causing the problem due to the bug that I have previously reported.

Regarding the question does this issue started from the the update to WP 5.6 or < WP.
I’m not sure. I took the time to spin up a fresh install of WordPress 5.6 with only Awesome Support installed. You’re more then welcome to spin up your own clean version(s) of previous WP to see if the errors are present in past versions. I’m only concerned with the most current version on WordPress.

Again, thank you for your response.

    Hi @dev3410,

We pushed an update to the Session Manager code in Github to be updated and so we will launch this fix in the next update:

    https://github.com/ericmann/wp-session-manager/pulls

What I can do for the plugin conflict is to create a report so that the developers can take a look.

    Regards.

I appreciate the response. I had a long discussion with my clients and they asked while the bug was being fixed to see if there were any alternatives. This client and many of our other clients were not pleased to be spending over 1000.00> a year on add-ons. During this time I found “Support Candy”. I tested it on multiple dev sites. I am quite impressed. Many of your add-on come free in the free core version of Support Candy. Plus “ALL” their addons can be purchased for a TOTAL of $59.00 per year that includes all your add-ons. Saving me and my clients HUNDREDS of dollars a year. They made the choice to switch. In fact, I switched them over to Support Candy and was informed today they are extremely happy.
Again, I do appreciate your help but we have decided to move over to Support Candy.

    Closing the ticket

I just want to say here, maybe on the off chance that someone reads this and considers changing plugin. I moved here fro support candy and I couldn’t be happier ??

Support candy might be cheaper, but you get what you pay for, it doesn’t even come close to the features provided by awesome support.

If you are a developer, there’s no comparison. The Main reason I moved was the lack of ability to customise support candy while Awesome support have done an awesome job at making it easy to customise.

I’ve still got my developer training wheels on but I’ve been able to customise this immensely without too much difficulty. I kept finding everything impossible to customise with Support Candy. Good luck though.

Having said all that, I am here to report a potential bug, so it does indeed come with bugs, but integrating such a diverse support plugin, was always going to introduce bugs. I’ve searched high and low and trialled all support desk plugins available on WordPress, literally all of them, and I have to say, this is by far the best. I would naturally expect there to be bugs. I wish the development team all the best and hopefully the team can grow and they’ll be able to fix bugs more efficiently.
