    Hi,

What a nice feature it would be if we were able to see more than one calendar on the back-end. It would speed up workflow immensely; instead of having to go back and forth between two calendars to see which dates are available, one could have a one-page overview.

Also, the opportunity to see several months instead of just one would be awesome.

    Cheers

    Hello,

Thank you for your feedbacks, I note your feature requests.

Just to confirm, you would like to see more than one calendar in the calendar editor, right?

For now, if you want to see the events from multiple calendars displayed in the same place you can
    1.
Create a booking form that displays events from several calendars at once:
    – Go to Booking Activities > Booking forms > your form
    – Go to the “Calendar” field settings, “Filters” tab
    – Click on the “+” icon next to the “Calendar” option
    – Select all the calendars with CTRL+Click
    – Select all the activities in the same way
    – Validate the dialog

    2.
Create a booking form per calendar and display them all on a private page, on the frontend.

Note that displaying multiple calendars will increase the loading time, and may exceed the default maximum PHP load time (60s usually)

About displaying several months, this won’t possible for now unfortunatly. I would need to make a custom view with FullCalendar, but some calendar settings cannot be dynamically updated with custom views (for now) and Booking Activities relies on them. I have made a request for that.

Indeed, seeing two or three calendars in the calendar editor or – even nicer – in a nice wide widget in the WordPress Dashboard, is what I mean.

Thanks for your suggestions, I will see which approach works best for me.

I had no idea about the FullCalendar restriction (how could I), great that created a request on Github for that.

    Hello Dutchie,

Ok, so you actually need a place where you can see a calendar showing all the upcoming events, it doesn’t have to be on separate calendars, neither on the calendar editor?
A calendar on the Dashboard widget area will meet your needs. Is this correct?

    Hi Yoan,

A dashboard widget that can show multiple calendars, yes that would be great.
(I can imagine a sort of advanced text widget that can handle more than one shortcode to show multiple calendars).

Why multiple calendars, you might ask. Well, I use several – especially during the set-up phase – because I do various types of events and putting that all in one calendar becomes too cluttered for my taste.

Of course, this would only make sense if the widget can break out of the columns that the WordPress Dash per default provides (which usually gives rather small and thus useless widgets).

Or… (thinking out loud) Instead of the Dashboard, a sort of profile page for the calendar/event manager with cool overview. I’ve always thought the standard WordPress profile page lacks functionality and is a missed chance, it is basically just another settings page, while the Dashboard is too rigid – both should be easier to adapt.

Maybe something that a skilled plug-in author could sink his teeth in…

    Cheers,
    Dutchie

Thank you for these additional information, I understand, I will see what I can do.

I forgot to mention that you can also display the calendar of booked events in Booking Activities > Bookings. Click on the “Pick an event” button to display the calendar.
This calendar also changes as you change the filters.

    Hello Dutchie,

Just a note to let you know that I have found a workaround to offer a multiple months view (with the Display Pack add-on).

Here is a demo (click on the “2 MONTH” view button)

The number of months can be configured.
