• I’ve got the widget up and running, and I notice there’s a hamburger menu icon on the widget. However, clicking it does nothing. Is that supposed to show a list of other cities? If so, I’d like to be able to fill in that list. How do I do so?

    Hi jordanwebdev,

You’re right. Hamburger menu opens an input field with the drop-down of suggested locations.

This option allows users to override preset weather location.
Weather location is changed by simply typing the name of the location into the search field and selecting the favorite from the list of suggested locations.

Here’s a live site example: https://swimtca.com/ (at the bottom of the page)

If you have a problem with displaying suggestion, try to debug javascript in Google Chrome DevTools. (dropdown needs jquery to function properly)

You can send us your site’s link and we’ll take a peek as well.

Hi, when I am on mobile and use the hamburger menu it does not change cities. It stays on the city I have pre-selected (in this case, Rome). Not sure if I am doing something wrong. Here is my site.

Forgot to mention, I am not a coder, so if the answer is to debug using google developer tools, then I am in over my head.

    Hello again,

The widget functions fine, but there might be an issue with overriding default city on your site because it’s using iframes.

What we could see while inspecting your website, dropdown works fine, and when user change city widget functions as planned – by placing a cookie with new city’s id.

    Can you please try:
    – to disable the cache (if you use), or
    – move a widget out of iframe, or
    – move to the top of the page,
and then try to change city – just to test if the issue will be fixed.

    p.s.
Here’s a live example how users change (weather) city https://swimtca.com/

Tried what you suggested, moving to top of page. Also, disabled cache. Did not seem to make a difference. As far as moving widget out of iframe…..don’t know how to do that.

    Hi,

At the moment, I must admit it’s a mystery why you can’t override default city.
Everything seems ok, from users side – as far as we can inspect without logging into your WP admin panel.

If we come up with the solution, I’ll post it here.

It is only on mobile that I have that problem…desktop works great.

    Strange and interesting…
We have the same issue, with overriding default city, on desktop and mobile,
    and on different browsers.

Desktop works great for me, takes changes right away….using Google Chrome. Never thought to try it on other browsers.

Not sure if it helps to know this, I am using Generate Press premium theme.

I wonder if any of my other plug ins are causing this problem. I try not to use a lot of plug ins, so don’t have that many.

Just want to thank the folks at Weather Atlas for taking the time to try to figure this out. Still give them 5 stars on the desktop…just can’t figure out the problem on the mobile version.

So, I guess I will have to move on and choose another weather widget. Sorry it did not work out…perhaps if I were more proficient in website design I might have found the answer.

    Hi,
    we’re sorry too.

There are numerous options to detect the cause of the issue, but all require logging and debugging your WordPress.

If we ever come up with the solution, we’ll post it here : )
