Multiple Columns in a Post

  • I would like to split a post into two columns preferably with two content blocks in the admin to make it easy for the end user to manage the separation. I’ve tried a few plug-ins such as Multiple Content Blocks and a few others and these only split pages. I need one content area on the left hand side and one content area on the right with the post’s thumbnail on the right above the 2nd column.

    I need either a hacky functions file bodge or a plugin although I would prefer the functionality to be unique to the theme.

    I’ve conducted a huge google search without much luck.

    One of the methods described in this article might work for you:

    In particular, method #3 could be easily modified to use an ‘end of column’ marker other than the ‘More’ tag.

    Thanks to you both for the help. I’ve read the links and if it was my site these solutions would be great, I’m just worried that the people who will be managing the site won’t know to insert a more link even if I document it correctly they’ll still forget.

    Really I need a solution that allows the user to enter information into two seperate content blocks.

    It would mean a lot more work on your part, but the PODS CMS Framework plugin will let you define custom post types with forms that can be filled out in the Admin panel.

    I have not used it, but the WordPress Form Manager plugin documentation says that it will create Posts from custom forms.

    Hey Chris, did you ever find a solution? I too am concerned the client is gonna have a hard time updating her site if the admin panel isn’t split.
