• Hi,

I added 2 photos directly in media library folder. They show up as 2 in media library folders. However, in file manager in that same folder there are multiple copies of different sizes (8 for each) which is WILD. This is really going to ruin my storage. Why is this happening and how do I prevent it?

    2. Also if I add photos to a new folder in ‘media library folder’ will it also appear in the month folder (so double added)?

    3. What happens if I decide to deactivate or delete this plugin later on, what happens to the images?

WordPress always generates multiple thumbnail sizes. Three sizes are the default sizes which WordPress requires for different uses. The other sizes are usually added by your current theme.

As for the duplicate files uploaded, I have not been able to reproduce this issue. So, let’s see how your site is configured. Please go to the Media Library Folders Support page on your site, to the System Info tab. There highlight and copy the information about your site and paste it into an email. Sent it to support at maxfoundry.com (‘at’ = ‘@’).

When uploading a file through Media Library Folders, you should first choose the destination folder, and then upload it. It should not go to the month folder.

As for deactivating the plugin, any folders created and images uploaded to them will remain even when the plugin is deactivated or deleted.

Thanks for your response. I have sent the information.

Regarding your last par. you mention they will remain: is this in both wp media AND site file manager?

The files and folders remain in your uploads folder and in your media library.

So what happens when you upload a file using Media Library Folders? It displays one new image in the folder contents?

By uploads folder, you mean file manager via hosting?

Added a new image with media library folders, it shows up as one in that folder. But five versions in my file manager

Yes, that is what WordPress does. It will create several thumbnail images. Some of them are required. In the media library and Media Library Folders, a thumbnail is used to display the image rather than using the full size image.

Thank you, it’s good to know creating several image sizes is normal. I wanted to also ask about deleting a folder in media library folder. It takes a long time to load then I get timeout error when I try to delete. I thought it was bc I need to manually delete the files inside the folder to delete before deleting the folder. Did this and then went to right click on the left panel to delete folder and it’s not working. I have sent screenshot to you

If I understand you correctly, you right clicking on a folder and choosing the delete folder option. Since PHP 7 later versions of PHP became available, there has been an occasional issue with not being able to delete a folder because it is not empty and the folder may contain a hidden file. We have added code to delete hidden files when deleting a folder but this has not resolved this issue in all cases. In the event that this happens, one can first manually delete the folder via FTP or with their site’s file manager and then delete the folder through Media Library Folders, as this is necessary in order to remove the folder’s record from the database.
