I love this plugin, but for the life of me I can’t figure out why, after getting the plugin set up and working, I am receiving multiple system emails (and I believe my visitors may be too). Only one sent email is showing in the email log, but I received three copies of it. Any ideas about why this is happening? I greatly appreciate your help.

Sounds like a problem with your mail server or maybe even the email reading client.

But let’s see a transcript from one of those emails and we’ll make sure the addressing is correct. Please remove the AUTH LOGIN or AUTH PLAIN credentials from the transcript first.

Thank you, Jason! I’m sorry, though. I think it might be an issue with a redirect loop actually. I think I’m forwarding too many email addresses around haha. I appreciate your help and I’ll let you know if I don’t get it fixed. ??

So do I. Nothing suspicious in the transcript.

Hi my site is not login and it is showing the following error on your plugin
Any ideas on how to solve it or what went missing?

Looks like one of the required files went missing. You will have to delete the wp-content/plugins/postman-smtp folder via FTP or similar and then re-install it. Have your host tech support look into why files are being deleted. Your site my be compromised.

Experiencing same issue JM reported. The plugin is sending multiple emails. Sometimes it sends two emails. Sometimes it sends three emails. It happens even when sending test emails.

    Please advise.

Yeah I’m actually still experiencing the issue as well.

Unfortunately this is outside of the control of the plugin. You’ll have to ask your the people that run the mail server you are connecting to. One log entry in Postman’s email log corresponds to one email delivered to your mail server.

This is how it works. Postman adds addresses to an email and sends a single email to the server. The server looks at the recipient list and delivers the email to the recipients. But delivering directly to recipients multiple times is impossible for Postman.

If you like, send me a copy of your session transcript and I will look to see if you have addressed yourself twice by mistake.

I am using the gmail api. It also doesn’t actually always send email… sometimes sends three… somtimes none.

I’ll take “sometimes none” to mean Postman delivered an email but you never received it, correct? This is a different problem and you’ll need to send me your diagnostic test so I can troubleshoot it.

What’s the best way to send to you? Just post it here?

That’s preferred. But you can email it to me.

Look perfect. Your domain has an appropriate SPF record. I can’t imagine why Gmail would be sending multiple copies of your email. I would inspect the session transcript and make sure there’s nothing odd. Duplicate copies of your email address for instance in the TO header. I don’t see any reason why you would not receive email either.

I guess just inspect the email log and ensure that what you receive matches what Postman says it sent. Sorry I can’t help more.
