• Hello all,

I am facing a weird problem and didn’t find the solution online or on this forum, so posting it here.

To leverage browser caching, I just accessed my cpanel’s root directory to find the .htaccess file. But, there are 3 different files available. The names are as follows –

    .htaccess
    .htaccess05122016
    .htaccess05152016

What to do with the files which contain date along with the “htaccess” term? Should I delete them? Because I want to use browser caching to speed up the website. These two more files may overwrite the actions which I mention on the main htaccess file?

    Please suggest..

The only one that’s “active” is .htaccess, so you can delete the other two. Do you know how they got created?

    Thanks sterndata

I am really clueless that how they are created. But, I hope that now I can relax when I know that the changes in .htaccess won’t be effected by other htaccess files.
