If there is an image in the sidebar the plugin loads multiple requests to the image as we scroll.

I thought this issue was specific to my website, however this can be replicated on the plugin demo page too. You can check in the developer tools or in this screenshot https://imgur.com/khNalBv

Each image accounts to an unnecessary request to the server and accounts to wasted bandwidth.

    Hi Amar,

    thanks for reaching out.

I can confirm the behavior on the site you linked to, but not reproduce it anywhere else. It is gone as soon as I disable the “Disable MutationObserver” option in the Fixed Widget settings.

Please check if you have that option enabled and what happens when you disable it. There are still a few parts in the plugin that I am not familiar with after taking over, but I am happy to further look into it when we can narrow it down.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi @amarudare,

did you have a chance to check if the “Disable MutationObserver” option helps to resolve the issue?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

Unfortunately no. I tried doing that but the error persists.

I am sorry to read that it didn’t help. Do you still experience the issue on a live site where I could see it?

    Thanks

    @amarudare thanks for the link.

If the “Disable MutationObserver” option didn’t help then I have no quick fix.

Due to other reasons, we are rewriting parts of Fixed Widget using a different technology. That one will very likely also resolve your problem.

While I have a self-interest in the rewrite since we are using the plugin on our own sites as well, I cannot say when the rewrite is production-ready since it is still a community project. Look out for the changelog.

Thanks again for making me aware of this!

    Thomas
