• I just installed 2.5 a few minutes ago hoping to upload my first album or gallery, but when I tried to upload images, I couldn’t find the option to upload multiple images.

I tried clicking on the browse button and I could only select one file. No amount of Ctrl-clicking, Shift-clicking, clicking & dragging, or selecting with the keyboard would get me more than one file uploaded at a time.

One thing I noticed is that instead of showing the “Choose files to upload” button shown in the Screencast demonstrating galleries, my dialog still showed the old text box + “Browse” button + “Upload” button.

I’m pretty frustrated here – this was the one feature I was excited about in WP2.5 and I can’t use it. Can anybody help me? Thanks!

  • I’m having the same HTTP error issue on crunching.
Updated Flash and pulled the commas.
    Working in FF.
I wil hold back the vomit and try IE.

My problem seemed to be that I used the Automatic Upgrade plugin to update to WP2.5 – when I uploaded the files manually via FTP, the multi-upload function worked somehow.

Aside from the Flash update I mentioned above, I didn’t do anything else.

Now my problem (also tackled by others here) is the general unreliability of the uploads. When trying to upload several files, the upload would freeze while “crunching” my images.

It’s working using my laptop (IE7/XPProTablet) but not on this main PC.

Not working on my Firefox 3.0b4 on Ubuntu Linux

IE7 on Vista – the multiple image upload is not available, the latest Flash Player is installed.

Firefox on Vista – after just upgrading to the latest version of Flash Player, the multiple image upload facility became available to me.

Cool that worked for XP Pro using FF. Flash player fixed the problem.

I reported this same problem earlier (but now I can’t find the post…)

I was told to do a new, clean install of the final 2.5 wordpress, and I did. I’m hosted on Go Daddy, running XP, IE 7. I continue to get only one file upload as option.

I thought that it may be some sort of file corruption issue (because I have a bad connection), so I even uploaded the zip of 2.5 and remotely unzipped onto the server. However, I still see only the option to upload one image at a time.

Please, anyone, what am I doing wrong? I’m so frustrated after having fought with this for the past week starting with r2.

Holy Cow! Thank you Salthouse. The change set 7573 you linked to worked!

I now get the multi-file upload window.

    Wahoo!

    hey guys,

I originally had that error when i upgraded using the auto upgrading plugin too. Whereby i only have “choose a file button”. Then later on I found out that all i needed to do was put the swfupload_f9.swf file in the wordpress-includes/js/swfupload folder.

This helped in giving me the choose files option instead of just the usual one file upload. But also like you, now i have a new problem which is the “HTTP ERROR” while crunching. Seems to be a number of bugs on this. it’s great on one hnad the new multi upload but i still prefer the flexible upload plugin which gave more flexibility with the images.

I also tried manual ftp upload, but still have issues with it the uploading of images. So for now I’m just forgetting it and using nextgengallery so far it seems to work well with wordpress 2.5

    Cheers ya’ll

OK, well I’ve got it to work using the Changeset 7573 fix and manually disabling Flash and Shockwave add-ins, reinstalling both with the latest versions from Adobe and re-enabling them in IE7.

The changeset fixes have to be added to all your WP installs (21 in my case) so I kept local copies of the patches files and overwrote them on the remote installs.

I forgot to say, I’ve also found issues with larger images.

I’m getting just the single upload box on two different sites, I used WPAU on both, but on one I’ve deleted everything and re-uploaded manually. Both still show just the single upload option =/

    Had same issue in IE7.
Have a look at Change set 7573 #7573

I edited two files (removed 1 comma in each file )and Gallery fully functional in Browsers.

Yeah, just tried this and the multiple file upload is now available in IE7 on Vista!

However, the HTTP error at the “crunching” stage is still happens. For me, this results in the image file being uploaded, but no thumbnail being produced – so if I go to put the image into a post it comes up full size.

You can resize this within the post writing page, but this isn’t really that useful as it just results in the full-sized image being shown at a smaller size (and therefore the file size is that of the full size image).
