• Hi,

I’m a newbie in this so forgive me if this a “silly” question.

I am looking at my folder structure for my wordpress blog and I suspect I have wordpress installed twice. I have my blog in a subdomain (eg. https://blog.mydomain.com) and this folder i.e. public_html/blog contains a bunch of wp*.* files as well as the folders wp-admin, wp-content and wp-includes. But, one level up i.e. in the public_html folder I also have wp*.* files and the folders wp-admin, wp-content and wp-includes. What does this mean? In my wordpress settings the wordpress address is the subdomain eg. https://blog.mydomain.com. Thanks for any help with this.

  • Depending on your server configuration, public_html/blog is most likely the correct place to have WordPress installed for a subdomain assuming you setup your subdomain to point to that folder. However the files in public_html/ probably would be for your primary domain. Do you have an HTML site inside public_html/ ? And is the site at the root (public_html/) working correctly?

It would help to know your actual domain name if you could share it ??

    Thanks Keith.

The primary domain (nystrom.cl) does not have a website … it just redirects to the blog. My wordpress setup points to the blog folder (fitidbits.nystrom.cl). From what I can see all files except one ( error_log in the wp-admin folder) are older in the root than in the blog folder. However, the error_log file has a current timestamp and is apparently updated currently. Probably the root installation should be removed but considering the error_log file I’m afraid I will break something if I just remove all wordpress files.
