    Hi guys,
Rather panicked here. Since the update a couple of days ago:

    1) Order confirmation emails are not being sent to me when products are bought.
    2) Many of the buttons involved in editing a product no longer work. For example, clicking on ‘Text’ does nothing; clicking on ‘Remove product image’ does nothing, clicking on ‘Edit’ for the permalink does nothing… the whole edit page has become very unresponsive.
    3) Two of my products simply vanished from my site. Their pages don’t display and although I can see them in my products list and attempt to edit them (though see (2) above) I can’t make them visible. I’ve tried recreating them as new products and copying / pasting all their data over, but they still fail.

Everything was working perfectly two days ago and now I have a partially-broken site that won’t let me edit things adequately!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • Hello,
I tested WC 3.0 in my test environment and I agree. There are no confirmation emails when products are bought. Do you have any advice meanwhile?

Sadly, no. In fact, since I posted the original query, a further bug has occurred, which is that now the order confirmation emails that go out to customers are not being generated either. We sell downloadable software, and customers can still access it from the checkout page once they’ve paid; but the usual email confirming their purchase and giving them their download link is no longer being sent, despite the options for this all being set properly in WooCommerce.

Judging by the support forums, this is a very erratic update. Let’s hope they go through it with a fine-tooth comb and sort some of these issues as soon as possible. I did try to walk my installation back to 2.6.14, but (dammit!) I’d obediently upgraded several WC extensions in the meantime, none of which would then work with the older version; so I’m back on 3.0.0 and hating it. My bad. Next time I’ll wait a lot longer before hitting that button…!

You could try WP Rollback ……..

    (test it first!)

I did take a look, but it only rolls back plugins that are on the main WP.org register. Since several of the WooCommerce extensions aren’t there, it can’t help me sort them out ??

We think the email issue is affecting some users whos’ cron jobs are not running. Working on it. Customers will still see confirmation on the checkout after ordering.

Regarding the admin issues, it’s likely related to this: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/3-0-error-option-ajax-is-not-allowed-for-select2/

    Hi Mike,
I think you’re right about the ajax issue being the cause of several of the problems I’m hitting. But it doesn’t seem to be a plugin conflict (ie, with a plugin running the older version of select2) since I’ve been through all the plugins disabling them to no avail.

If it’s a THEME issue, then I’m really in trouble. My site uses a custom theme. I don’t have the programming chops to try to edit or adjust it myself. Is there some way to make the version of select2 switchable, to protect those of us with custom themes? Or some other way out of this?! I don’t want to have to spend $700 in web development fees to have the theme rewritten unless I have to! ??

Does the theme have select2? If you look at the javascript console you can send me a screenshot of the error you’re seeing.

Select2 v3 and select2 v4 are not compatible with one another. Some plugins queue the older version.

    Hi Mike,
Where exactly do I find the javascript console?

    Hi There,

a part the confirmation email issue i have problem with the processing payment with paypal pro that is giving back internal server error…

Any idea if could be the upgrade or something else?

    Thanks

In chrome browser under the view menu. View > Developer > Javascript console.

You’d need to look at the error message to know. And raise with author.

I’ve run the faulty pages with the Javascript console enabled, and there are no errors there. The missing product pages are missing completely from the WooCommerce catalogue, but I am able to navigate to them directly (by typing in their URL manually)… at which point they fail to load properly. But there’s no error displayed. :-S

One of the faulty product pages in question is here, by the way:

    https://www.rhythmicrobot.com/product/emulator-ii-omi-universe-of-sounds-vol-2

…and the catalogue page on which it should be visible (but isn’t) is here:

    https://www.rhythmicrobot.com/keyboard-vault

Normally the “emulator ii” page not only lists in catalogue view (it should be the first item in “Electronic Keys and Synths”), but the page itself has a ton of actual content instead of just a title bar – like any of the other products you can click through to from the catalogue page. But as things stand the page (and another like it) has vanished, and navigating to it directly reveals that it’s broken.

FWIW, I read elsewhere about people having issues with downloadable files that either have several parts or products which when bought allow the user to download several files. That’s the case with both these products, but none of the others. I wonder if it’s a contributing element? Each of the two “missing” products, when bought, gives the customer access to 11 downloadable files as a result. Might this somehow be a factor?

One final thing – this sort of stuff is frustrating for everyone, but Mike, I really appreciate you getting involved so swiftly. Very reassuring: thank you.

    Hi all
We are not web developers, we just try run an online shop so we do not understand coding etc.
    We are having similar problems.
Cannot edit any product data and after reading some of the trouble about this update, it really concerns us because we haven’t looked into anything else yet so we may not even realise that there may be other things gone wrong.
What is being done so no one has to spend hundreds of $ getting things fixed?

    This is fixed in 3.0.1

Little confused by your other report. If you think permalinks are broken go to settings > permalinks and save. You can also screenshot those settings for me so I can see if it checks out.
