MULTIPLE LOOPS FOR CATEGORY PAGE

Hi, I am working on a theme and I am looking to have 2 loops on the category page – category.php. I have tried multiple ways and have been unable to accomplish it.

The first loop is suppose to pull the most recent post from the category and the second loop will display the rest of the posts in the category. Each loop will show the thumbnail, title and excerpt.

If any one can please help me with the loops code to accomplish this.
