    calpee, are you using multisite?

Just wanted to add my experience with this issue as well….

I had a notification that was working as expected for many months. Sometime in the last two or three months duplicates started happening. Sorry I can’t be more specific about when. Then within the last month four copies started happening. I deleted the notification and created a new one. Now its back to just two email duplicates.

It’s a production site so I am not really in a position to disable other plugins in order to track it down. WP is up to date, as are other plugins. Hosted at MediaTemple’s WP service.

Here’s to hoping it’s something in the plugin that can be resolved. Thanks for creating and supporting the plugin.

    Hi rbtd,
It’s most odd as the problems introduced that were causing the multiple notifications were reversed in a recent update.

Are you able to try with an older version of the plugin and see if that helps? You can compare details of versions in the Changelog and grab the files from here.

Let me know how you get on.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hello Everyone,

If you’re still watching this thread and still having the problem, can you please reply with the following information?

    1. How many people are configured to receive this notification?
    2. Whether they are in the To, CC or BCC fields.
    3. How many average page views your site receives on a day and month.
    4. Are you using any external services like SendGrid to send the notifications?

Once I have this, I should have a better idea of what is going on.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Jack,

    Answers to your Qs.
    1) Three.
    2) To.
    3) 800 to 1,200 per day; 25,000 to 30,000 per month
    4) Not that I am aware of.

I always get two emails for every notification.
When I try the ‘Send Me A Test Email’ I only get one.
    I have version 1.4 installed.

    Hello,

I am presently using your plug-in on multiple sites, but very similiar set-ups of keeping multiple users set-up for various things, whether a Post is Published, whether a Post is Scheduled or even whether a Meta Slider is updated updated. So I’ll give feedback based on one of these sites.

Q1 and Q2. 5 in total, 1 is ‘sent to:’ Administrator, with 4 CCs.

    Q3 is a marketing question.

Q4 WP-Mail-SMTP by Callum Macdonald with ‘Send all WordPress emails via SMTP.’ option selected.

    Hi djrikki,
    Thanks for your feedback too.

Question 3 is not a marketing question – it’s a relevant question that I’ve asked to help me troubleshoot this as so far, it seems it’s only an issue on very large sites or sites that use plugins that post to social networks at the same time as publishing a post.

I believe there’s a race condition going on where multiple, simultaneous visits are triggering something before BNFW has completed it’s ‘run’ of sending notifications so if you are able to answer this, that would be incredibly helpful.

Q3. Ok sorry. =) <155 a day, last 30 days 4,656. We share posts via TweetDeck and Facebook pages as a manual process rather than using a plugin to carry out the task.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks djrikki,
    That’s helpful.

    I’ll keep investigating.

I have the sample problem as the others here since I last updated the plugin a day ago and WordPress to 4.5. Not sure if it’s the one or the other or the combination of it.

    Hi

    1. 134 users
    2. They are in the TO specified by user role “administrator” and “subscriber”
    3. Don’t have a clue
    4. I use SMTP to send mails with plugin “Easy WordPress SMTP” (https://wp-ecommerce.net/easy-wordpress-smtp-send-emails-from-your-wordpress-site-using-a-smtp-server-2197). It worked well before and after using this plugin.

The multi notifications started after updating the plugin and WP.

    Cheers
    Christophe

I’m experiencing the same issue after upgrading last week. Subscribers are getting 2 emails, consistently. I use the email log plugin to monitor this.
Nothing is set in the CC field. We don’t use any other notification plugins.
