    We are having customers making multiple payments

    When I check the Published “Cart Orders” we don’t seem to have anything since the 12th February 2021
    However there are 25 blank entries in the Bin Cart Orders with more recent dates (up to today) they all have a status of “in progress”

    When I look at the ipn_handle_debug.txt it shows multiple entries
    Below is an example:
    There is a FAILURE notice as well as SUCESS notices
    These entries do not find there way onto the Published Cart Orders but PayPal has processed them

    The first report is the PayPal Recent Activity (I have blanked some of the names)
    You can see we are getting duplicate entries in PayPal but the ipn_handle_debug.txt file has them as “FAILURES” for these times (second report)

    Also these are the IPN settings in PayPal:

    Instant Payment Notification (IPN)
You have turned on the IPN feature. You can view your IPNs on the IPN History page. If necessary, you can resend IPN messages from that page. For more information on using and troubleshooting this feature, read more about Instant Payment Notification (IPN).

To stop receiving IPNs permanently, click Turn Off IPN.

    Thank you for sharing more information. Can you enable debug mode then carry out a test yourself. In other words, can you make a purchase then check the log file. Let me know what happens.

    Please Note: In advanced settings I have not checked “PayPal credit”
    Then I got an error-message
    Then I pressed OK and got this screen

    Looks like an issue with the Smart checkout option only. We will investigate this but in the meantime, disable the “smart checkout option from the settings and keep only the standard PayPal checkout So you can continue to get the standard payment functionality working.

    We will provide an update after we can get to the bottom of this.

    If you need to use the Smart checkout option asap, you can try our following plugin:

    I have disabled smart checkout and tested the transaction and it seems to have worked in PayPal and also put an entry in “Cart Orders”

    I will probably not bother to use wp-express-checkout at this time but thanks for the info and I took the time to view the videos

    Yes, this disabling of the “Smart checkout option” likewise fixed an issue where a popup would appear after submitting PayPal payment:
    “Error occurred during processing. Check debug log for additional details”.

    I tested it using the “Checkout with PayPal” and it has been recorded in PayPal and in Cart Oreders and there is no error message, but I can still see the transaction in the widget
    Is this how it is supposed to work?
    I fera that this will encourage the user to make the transaction again

    the issue with this new update seems to be solved, but when making the purchase and processing the payment, I automatically redirect to my main site /?reset_wp_cart=1 without showing the success of the purchase.
