• After importing a WordPress site, I am seeing two different images appearing randomly for the same user. Sometimes it’s the correct image for their Gravatar and sometimes it’s the image from my account which performed the import. However, in all instances the email associated with user is the same even though the actual user name varies.

For example, the username shows up in a variety of forms such as…

    John Smith
    john smith
    john s
    john

All of which have the same email address. However, the profile image is varied across all entries and it is either my profile image or the actual user’s profile image.

Any suggestions on what is causing this issue and how I can resolve it?

Is there a plugin for controlling users? WP won’t let users have the same email when they register.

I should clarify that only “John Smith” is shown under the users area. However, when I look at the comments I see the variety of the names as listed above.

But the issue appears to be something with the import process as I have a few other users that only have one name used in the comments section, but my profile image is showing for them as well. However, I also have a few users where only their profile image is showing as expected. So there are definitely inconsistencies across the board. I just want to match up the correct profile image with the corresponding author. I have searched the net but I haven’t found anything related to this issue as of yet.

Anybody else ever experience this when importing?
