Multiple site library themes or templates on one site

I wanted to make a home page with a different layout from the rest of the site, so I imported a site from the Site Library, thinking it was just a template. Unfortunately, this made the whole site in the style of the imported site.

Is there a way to import from the site library where I can selectively use the new template for only the home page?
