Multiple Templates for index page

    Firstly I’m sorry if this is an “easy-to-find” question, but as I’m totally newbie at wordpress I’m even having to google what I want to (Joomla! dude over here).

    Situation: My fds had a site and want 3 different color css, I managed to successfully create different page templates that can be selected with wordpress gui. But I can’t find how to make the index page template selectable!

    My guess is this is a option inside the template, since I don’t have it available anywhere that I look inside wordpress. Any tips on how should i proceed?
