I have a client who has a website with a theme that needs to be changed. I have purchased another theme for them however, I can’t make changes to that theme unless I deactivate the current one. Is there any way I can modify the purchased theme while keeping the current theme activated ? I tried using “test-theme” but only let me preview the modifications I made via my FTP client. I would like to use the dashboard for faster results.

create a sandbox site – on their host add a subdomain so if you have xyz.com the sandbax site would be sandbox.xyz.com (you can name it anything)

Now make a complete copy of the live site to the sandbox site and you can activate the new theme and make the changes and let them see the results. Once they ok it, you copy the changes to teh live site, activate the theme and your done.

What kind of hosting should I have for this to work? I’m just a bit confused as to how I can have a sub domain working with the “test theme”
