• Hello,

I’m having a serious problem. All the purchase event in Facebook Ads manager are doubled. For instance I had a product sold today and it was counted twice, also of course the value of the products bought.

I went to the events manager and saw that there 3 purchase events – 1 server event and 2 browser event.

Please advise as this is messing up all the ability to track and scale my campaigns.

I recommend you watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eMKGxT7qMk

Meta has an option called “automated events without code” that can lead to purchase events getting fired on the checkout page. This is the first suspect for such a problem.

    Hi,

I checked the settings in the pixel and it’s turned off.

Please test the events the way it’s shown in the video. It’s possible is some cases to have those events triggered even when the option is turned OFF.

Do you see the extra purchase event? Does it have our default parameters?

I used the testing tool in PixelYourSite. I moved to checkout. In the events manager I saw an initiate checkout event, that was composed with 2 event – browser and api that was deduplicated. It had a lot of parameters. I also had another event, a single browser event with only 1 event under it. It had very little parameters.

    How do I fix this?

That extra event with very little parameters is not ours. I expect it’s browser only, right? My suspicion is still the “fire events without code” option. You can confirm this by replacing the pixel ID and repeating the test.

Other possible sources for such events: Meta event setup tool, GTM, custom code, another plugin, events manually configured on our plugin’s Events page (unlikely, we add some parameters to those as well).

I really don’t know what to do. Albeit countless correspondence and phone calls with facebook support they are stubborn in their position that it’s a third party problem.

    What can I do?

Yes, their first tier support is not aware of the problem. You can easily demonstrate that it’s pixel related by installing a different pixel ID and show them that that event is no longer present.

In fact, that’s the only solution I know about.

By the way, you never share the URL here, so I am simply guessing this is the cause of the problem. You can share it, and I will take a look, just to be sure it’s not something else.

I can’t remove my current pixel. I have campaigns running and I need it to function.

And also I need to replicate it with the alleged third-party plugin (PixelYourSite) so that it will exonerate it. Is there an option of installing 2 pixels at the same time with PixelYourSite?

And thank you for your offer of looking at it. Is there an option here to DM you the link or an email I can send it to you?

Yes, there is, but it’s part of our paid solution. Send me a message on our site, and mention this discussion, please.
