• Hello,

I would like to have some help for a decision.
I want to creat a simple website for 6 overseas departments of France (Réunion, Martinique, etc.).

Each department will have its site with its own url. Clearly the sites will be the same with just a few modifications: content (even if everything is in French, a very few titles will be translated into local language) and media (the images and logos will be adapted to each site).

The goal is that depending on my geo-location, I am offered the right site.

So I created a multisite wordpress.

My problem is that I don’t know how to avoid doing 6 times each of the pages.

I would like to create a page and duplicate it on another sites in the network (then personalize it once on the other site). But those type of plugins I found haven’t been updated for a very long time and don’t have a lot of active installations.

So I wonder if I’m going in the right direction by doing a multisite … ?? Is there another way to deal with this goal ?

  • IT sounds like a multisite approach might be ideal, however, you might wanna read this first: https://wishdesk.com/blog/wordpress-multisitevs-multiple-single-sites

It is possible for a subsite to serve content from another network site, but it requires custom coding. If most of the content is the same between sites, it may make more sense to use a single site installation which alters specific elements based on a subdomain or permalink element. You’re still looking at custom coding to do this, but I think the ongoing maintenance would be easier since most content is the same.
