@soobahkdo: Sure! The ball is on WPTouch’s side. There is nothing I can do without their support.

    @darylgriffiths: Thank you!

Regarding WPTouch, unfortunately, that’s a “no”:

    Hello,

At this time WPtouch does not have a mechanism to disable its icon handling. We tend to agree with the industry that any one icon is typically not adequate for all applications (a small favicon for display in a browser’s tab bar needs to be considerably less detailed than that used for an iOS homescreen application) and prefer to provide tools that encourage customers to create versions of their bookmark icons that are suitable for the scale at which they are to be displayed.

I’m still chatting with them but I have little hope at this point.

    thank’s for your plugin!

    2) No. Even if you activate the plugin at the network level, the settings panel (under Settings > Favicon) appears site by site. Same remark for Appearance > Favicon.

it’s because of mu functionality? Or just the way you coded it like it is…?

is there a way to stick with a basic solution to set a favicon networkwide?

or will you come up with a solution for your great plugin?

Well, I must admit I didn’t really do anything for multisite. I just tested and fixed minor points. Internally, WP makes it easy for plugins to work properly in isolation when used in multisite. I suppose many plugins behave like this (well I have no experience with multisite, so I can’t assert this).

So what you see here is what happens when a single-WP minded plugin is suddenly used in multisite mode.

    I don’t know how to set a favicon network-wide. I just didn’t investigate this.

Will the plugin support network-wide favicon? It should, yes. But my TODO list is quite full and that won’t happen before a few months.

In particular, before this, I want to implement automatic favicon upgrade: next time Apple releases yet-another-icon-size along with its brand new iOS 9/X/whatever, your WP favicon will be upgraded automatically.

thank’s for such a quick and detailed response!

I think, lot of people are still figuring out, what to do with mu functionalities…

and I believe this multisite (and plugin) support in general, should be devided into two target groups:

    1. multisite as is, like separated pages on one setup where most freedom available is granted

    2. multisite as interacting sites (with limited, secured, organization minded possibilities…)

    Thank’s again and take care!

As I am using a lot multisite, I am going to follow this thread…
Me too, I would be interested in creating the same favicon network wide in multisite.
Thanks for the great work on this plugin so far!
