• Have a user setup as a Subscriber. Can still see the Dashboard.
Multisite and version 3.4.2 of WordPress.
I tried both network activating and activating in the subsite and then I deactivated in the Network Admin area and within the subsite it looks like its still activated (because it says “Deactivate”).

The following plugins are installed in the Subsite and Activated:

All In One Event Calendar by Timely
    Genesis Simple Edits
    Genesis Simple Sidebars
    Jetpack by WordPress
Redirect to Homepage by Bjorn Wijers
    Slider Pro
    Ultimate TinyMCE

    Thanks!

    Hi computerkitten –

Before I can help you troubleshoot your issue, I have 2 questions:

    1. What version of WP Hide Dashboard are you running?

    2. Why haven’t you upgraded your WordPress install to the latest version (3.5.1)?

Okay so attempting to use version 2.2 of WP Hide Dashboard. I will though update WordPress to the latest… and give this a try again so will be back… I am though first going to have the client run a backup of this Multisite before doing the update so may be a day or two until I’m back.

    Thanks for your help!!

So I updated WordPress to the latest and so everything is current.

The user I am logged in as is a Subscriber. Its hiding more of the stuff however I still see a few things.

My Sites and Slider PRO and Jetpack

Though when clicking on anything of the Slider PRO, it says you don’t have permissions to be in there.
So that is good. But why does it appear at all, would prefer for that to be hidden. Jetpack it looks like all they can get to is a Learn More but not sure why this shows up when clicking on their Profile page (to change their password).

But… is there any way of actually really hiding the Dashboard and not seeing the black toolbar that goes clear across with these few options? I understand that you may need it though to get to the user’s profile which I’m able to do so that a password can be changed. But wondering if there is any other way of not giving up this real estate space for a Dashboard in order to just get to a profile to change a password (for them to change it actually).

    Please let me know.

    Thanks!

I would also like a resolve on this its a great plugin but wish it would hide the dashboard
completely like it did on earlier wp relise. still must say thanks. it works way better than anything I could have done.

@knaggsy88 The latest version of the plugin (2.2) works with the latest version of WordPress (3.5.1). If you’re running an outdated version of either of these, then you’ll have issues.

You’ll also have issues if you are running another plugin that is causing a conflict with mine.

Without more information (WP version, my plugin version, list of active plugins), I can’t help you troubleshoot your problem.

@computerkitten If you are still seeing the admin menu items for Slider PRO and Jetpack when logged in as a subscriber, then you need to contact the authors for those plugins and have them fix their plugins so that it is hidden for subscribers. That’s out of my control.

I’m going to suggest that you take a look at 2 other plugins which hide the dashboard, and provide a few more options that you desire:

    WP Admin No Show:
    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wp-admin-no-show/

    Remove Dashboard Access:
    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/remove-dashboard-access-for-non-admins/

Make sure you deactivate the WP Hide Dashboard plugin while you are testing each of them so there are no conflicts.

Hello Kim sorry for the delay writing back here.

    Running 2.2 version, WP 3.4.2

    Plugins:

    Akismet
    All-in-One Event Calendar by Timely
    BackupBuddy
    Fast Secure Contact Form
    Genesis Simple Edits
    Genesis Simple Hooks
    Genesis Simple Sidebars
    Jetpack by WordPress.com
    More Privacy Options
    Multisite User Management
    Redirect To Homepage
    Slider PRO
    Social Media Widget
    Ultimate TinyMCE
    User Activation Keys
    WordPress Importer
    WP Hide Dashboard

If you think though its Jetpack & SliderPro causing the issue… I could try those other plugins. But let me know, thanks!

@computerkitten: Before you do anything else, upgrade that WordPress install to the latest version (3.5.1). You indicate you’re still running version 3.4.2.

Jetpack and SliderPro are causing the issues with their links showing up in the admin menu for subscribers. Contact those plugin authors to fix that.

And yes, I’d recommend trying either of the 2 plugins I mentioned before, since you are asking for more functionality than my plugin is designed to provide.
