In multisite:
The latest Premium version allows you full flexibility – you can Network Activate or just Activate on individual subsites.
The current free version does allow this too, but the settings panel is only available at the network admin level.
The full flexibility will be released to the free version in the next release.
So to summarize: if you’re going to Network Activate then all versions are fully compatible with multisite. If you want individual subsites then currently the Premium version supports this better.
