• Hi all,

I just wanted to find out something and I apologize if I’m wrong as I’m fairly new to multisites and the relationships between parent and child.

This is the scenario, I have a parent site hypothetically called parent.com and a child site called parent.com/child.

Now when I post a post at parent.com/child (in this scenario parent.com/child/post1 it also appears in the Dashboard > Posts for parent.com which if I click on the url or image of the post on parent.com it will take me to parent.com/child/post1.

Is this standard behaviour of multisite?

I love it as it shows the child’s post on the recent posts section on parent.com, but when I try to do a slider based on recent posts, the featured image on the child post doesn’t display. I’ve also noticed that if I edit the post from the parent’s dashboard, and add a featured image to it (as it lists no featured), that the featured image of the child post will show instead of the featured image I choose using the parent’s dashboard.

Is there a way that this original featured image be transferred over as well as the post or do I need to edit the post manually?

  • No, that’s not the default behavior. Do you have any plugins installed or made any other modifications? Posts for site parent.com/child/ are completely separate to the posts for the site parent.com.

Wait .. you WANT this to happen or it IS already happening?
