    Hello,

does the Woocommerce Stripe Gateway plugin work in a WordPress/Woocommerce multisite setting?

  • Hi,

The preferred scenario is, to run Stripe in one site, if you have a multisite network, you will need one Stripe account, Stripe Keys, and one Stripe configuration for each site.

May I ask is the multi-site related to different countries? I mean, one site per each country? Can you please provide more details? So that I can ask if there is a workaround for your inquiry.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Igor and thank you for your reply!

I have two different scenarios that I am concidering:

1: To build one main site which is for international customers (outside the EU), one subsite that is for my own country (Sweden), and a second subsite that is for the remaining EU-countries.

    or:

2: To build one main site for international customers, one subsite for Sweden, and one subsite per remaining EU-country (this should be 26 subsites).

In either scenario, my plan is to use the Subdirectory installation method, so my main site would be named:

    https://sitename.com

And the subsites would be named:

    https://sitename.com/se

    https://sitename.com/dk

    etc…

The reason for creating a multisite network is to be able to provide customers from different countries with different languages, currencies and tax-options.

After posting my question yesterday, I also found this article: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/wordpress-multisite-111/

Is the meaning of this article that I can use the WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway on my main site and also on all subsites with only one Stripe account, Stripe keys and Stripe configuration?

    Thank you!

    Hello @hans410947,

I don’t know whether it’s ok to use the same Stripe keys for the different stores/sites, this is better addressed with Stripe’s support but you will have a problem with the webhook configuration as there will be different URLs.

The reason for creating a multisite network is to be able to provide customers from different countries with different languages, currencies and tax-options.

I’m glad you mentioned this, you don’t need to offer a site to each region to attain all these features.

You can translate the same site to different languages using something like TranslatePress. As for currency switching, the WooCommerce Payments extension (an alternative to Stripe) already includes a currency conversion widget and even supports auto-switching with geolocation. If you prefer to stick with Stripe, you can explore one of these extensions.

As for tax options, then you can set up tax classes for each product and add rates per region. More information about tax settings can be found here.

    Hope this helps!
