I setup a multisite on an existing install (and one that had recently been moved), using the subdomain method.

After creating a new site, it is not creating the correct url for the siteurl and home in the settings for that site. If I attempt to edit those settings and save them, they don’t “stick”. The newly created subdomains are viewable if manually entering their address.

I followed the advice of one of the replies on this topic:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/multisite-dashboard-link/?replies=6
and manually edited the entries in the database for the option_value field for the siteurl and that works.

Would anyone have any insight into what is going on here?

It would really help if you can give more info:

Please give the url for the main site, and examples of the incorrect siteurl & home that are appearing. You can use domain.com if you don’t want to share your actual site.

“If I attempt to edit those settings and save them” — WHERE are you attempting to edit? in the site dash, or the network admin edit sites dash?

    Thanks Bet.

I have resolved the problem, and for reference here is what caused it.

I had moved the site (which was not a multisite) from a GoDaddy managed WordPress plan onto just a shared hosting server. I followed best practices when migrating the site, but failed to notice that GoDaddy had files in wp-content in a folder named mu-plugins. After deleting that folder, everything returned to normal when creating a new site and all the links began to work.

And yes, I was attempting to save the settings in the network admin edit sites dash.

Glad you got it figured out!

Just wanted to tack on that this same issue happened for me. Deleting the directory and the gd-system-plugin.php file cleared it up!

Thanks for posting your resolution gaszer!
