Multisite for annual festival?

  • Is multisite the best option for running an annual festival website? The main concern is “archiving” each year with its own look and feel and content so that users can see historical information. For example, the site should work with current year at festivaldomain.com and then also be able to have festivaldomain.com/2011 and festivaldomain.com/2010, etc, etc, and preserve the annual entries and the template for each year.
    Or is there another option or plugin that would allow us to achieve this result?

    WordPress does this for WordCamps.

    2012.sf.wordcamp.org ??

    Then then have (I think) a simple .htaccess redirect for sf.wordcamp.org to punt you to the current year.
