Multisite – Ghost Tables remain after site deletion

  • Hi there,

    Great plugin! I use it on multiple sites for many years. I just noticed that if a site in a multisite network is deleted, the following tables remain in the database:
    prefix_aiowps_events
    prefix_aiowps_failed_logins
    prefix_aiowps_global_meta
    prefix_aiowps_login_activity
    prefix_aiowps_login_lockdown
    prefix_aiowps_permanent_block
    (prefix is a placeholder for the database prefix selected for WordPress)

    It would be great if those can be deleted as well upon site deletion.

    In regards to your question, the plugin currently keeps those tables because most time people just want to delete the plugin and install it again because they where locked out.

    Thanks for your feedback. I would like to clarify that I am not referring to deleting the plugin. I agree with you that, if the plugin is deleted, those tables should remain in case a user re-activates the plugin.
    I am referring to sites that are deleted in a multisite network. WordPress creates a set of database tables when a new site is created in a WordPress multisite network and so does All In One WP Security & Firewall.
    Unfortunately, upon deletion of the site, the tables I mentioned in my first post remain in the database. Given that sites cannot be restored after deletion, I do not see any use case for why the plugin tables should remain in the database. In a large multisite network, these “ghost” tables can contribute to the database size significantly.
