I tried to install a plugin that sped up my client’s sites (2 sites on a multisite install) that broke some functionality, and after I deleted the plugin I was still having problems, this time with site time quadrupling how slow it was running, then finding out that my .htaccess file was wiped out. I have tried to restore the .htaccess file and have restored my entire site files, and still am having an issue where half of the pages I try to get to in both the super admin and admin areas of WordPress show up as 500 errors. Could anyone tell me what the issue is/how to fix it?

    What plugin did you install/uninstall?

Have you looked in your database to see if that plugin left orphan tables? The first thing to do before doing ANYTHING in your database is to make sure you have a backup of the db. And figuring out the difference between orphan tables and what are vital to your site can be tricky, so be super-sure before deleting any of them.

The issue turned out to be a hosting issue, everything is back up and running fine. Thanks!
