Multisite non www domain is redirecting to primary domain

Hi,

I have been dealing with this issue for weeks now and it’s driving me crazy. I need some help figuring out what’s going on. I have a multisite with 4 sub sites that is set up on Amazon AWS OpsWorks, EC2 and S3. I did not set this up, I just came into it. Each site is set up in Network > Sites > Settings with a path of / and each has their own custom domain set to https://www.site1.com, https://www.nextsite.com, https://www.thirdsite.com, etc.

All of these sites work except for the last one. That site needs to change domain names to a newly acquired one. For example, https://www.site4.com needs to be come https://www.newsitefour.com. As soon as we changed it in site settings, it started redirecting to the primary domain for the master site. So we changed it back to the old domain and it still redirected to the primary domain.

We set it back to the www version of the new domain, disabled Total Cache and re-enabled it. Now, by some luck or chance, the www version of the new domain name is correctly loading the last sub site, however, the non www version of the same domain redirects to the primary domain.

This site is not using any type of domain mapping plugin. We cannot use WPMU Domain Mapping because we have load balancers and multiple IPs that are served up for the same site.

I checked Apache vhosts and that is set up correctly, as all sites are resolving properly and the last one is resolving to the main site.

I checked the DNS configurations in Route53 and the domain that is not working is set up exactly the same as the ones that are working. Plus, the domain actually does resolve to the main site on the network, so I assume it’s pointed correctly and the problem lies in WordPress.

(The reason there is no www redirect for sitefour.com is because when I add it, the non www redirects to the www version, but the www version goes into an infinite redirect loop.  The others work fine.)
