multisite not working when adding sites

    I picked subdomains

    I added *.mydomain.ca

    mydomain.ca is not the actual domain, just using it as example.

    I used instructions here: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-install-and-setup-wordpress-multisite-network/

    I added somesubsandwich.mydomain.ca

    When I go to somesubsandwich.mydomain.ca it shows the Index of / . You know when you buy a domain but the root folder of that site has no pages at all?

    When I go to somesubsandwich.mydomain.ca/wp-admin or somesubsandwich.mydomain.ca/wp-login.php , I get this:

    Internal Server Error

    The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

    Please contact the server administrator at [email protected] to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

    More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

  • Hello,

    Just a couple of things to check that I can think of:

    Have you correctly set up the wildcard subdomain through cPanel (Or your web control panel)? Is there any other subdomain already set up that may be conflicting with this? Is there any existing directory that may be conflicting with this? You should also check your .htaccess file to make sure the redirects have been put in place.

    I think that was it. I deleted everything and started fresh. I think the wild subdomains were going somewhere else and not the document root folder for mydomain.ca

    It works now. Thanks for your help.
