multisite or many single installs

  • Hi I am a complete newb looking for some help. Originally I was hoping to do a multistage LOCAL install but the instructions did not provide appropriate matching instructions and I was unable to complete the install. I was able to a single site installed locally but I am wondering if, without uninstalling my successful single wp, can I either install several more singles or a multisite, along side of my current install. If I can only make a fresh install can someone help with the process for a multi-site.

    What software are you using to host the local site? Is it something like DesktopServer, XAMPP, or MAMP?

    Hi Geoffrey. I am using XAMPP on Win 8.1. I installed the package as 4.5.2 and did the update to 4.5.3.

    You can have as many single installs as your hard drive has room for ?? And they do not all have to be WordPress; you can have Drupal, Joomla!, eFront, etc., basically any script that uses MySQL and Apache. Oh, and regular HTML sites too ??

    A while back, I did multisite install working on XAMPP, but I can’t recall how I did it now; it was only to see if I could do it.
