Multisite permalink woes AKA why are we still forced to use "/blog"?

  • Is there any plans to address the issue of a multisite install defaulting to using “blog” in the permalinks?

    Currently I have to use a hack or plugin to remove “/blog” from my multisite installs. It’s 2012, shouldn’t this be something easy to do?

    What if I have a sub-site that I want to use with the slug “/blog”? I guess I’m just out of luck.

    End rant.

    Note: This ONLY affects subfolder installs.

    Plans, yes. Success, not yet. If you know how to fix it, so that the slug is reserved in a way that won’t conflict with any other site on the network in the future, please submit the fix!
