Multisite Setup & Redirection Issue

Hi,

Hope someone can help me. I wish to build a network of sites with different content for different countries (very much like timeout.com). I will be using folders to separate each country. Example:

– cathouse.com – main site is used to highlight the top content from all countries and has its own content.
– cathouse.com/US
– cathouse.com/canada
and other country specific sites…

I would install WPMU installation on cathouse.com then later add new sites for US and canada.

Here’s my question:
I’m currently only working on cathouse.com/US, so my main site cathouse.com is not needed at the moment. How do I redirect visitors from cathouse.com to cathouse.com/US for now?
( I’ve tried redirection from cpanel, it wouldn’t work and was told by my hosting support that it won’t work for wordpress sites. )

When I have US and canada sites up and running, I will get rid of the redirect, so visitors land on the main site.
