Multisite Sharing

According to the documentation at https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/multisite/ enabling global tables allows sharing of events across “sub-sites” from the root site. My sub-site isn’t showing root events on the default event pages. I can get them to display using a shortcode, but they link back to the root site. Is this the intended functionality? I’m looking for those events to aggregate through my sub-sites and appear as if they belong to each individual sub-site.
